I
am fascinated by people and I have a passion for black and white photography;
these two interests come together in my portrait work, which for me is not
only an endless exploration of the many facets of human character
but also the means of my artistic expression.
Consequently in my portrait commissions I am always seeking to vary my approach
to the sitter and to his or her personal world. So many things, the quality
of light, the particulars of composition, even the very smallest of details
can serve to reflect the subtleties of individual psychology.
A formulaic approach to portraiture is something I hope I will never be guilty
of. Just as each individual has unique characteristics, so should each
portrait; no two should ever be the same.
I live and work as a photographer in Stroud, Gloucestershire, having moved to
the Cotswolds from my native Burgundy (France) in 1992.
I was elected ARPS (Associate of The Royal Photographic Society) in 2006.
